Macromedia Freehand - Sending Freehand through Rapidad.

The illustrations below were made using a Mac and Freehand 10 but the settings exist in almost the same place, on Windows.

If you are working in Freehand, the easiest and best way to send your file is .pdf format. Freehand 10 allows you to make a print quality .pdf file without purchasing Acrobat Distiller.

We can also accept .eps (fonts converted to paths please).
Please Call First if you intend to send a native Freehand File since some sites do not have Freehand.

Native Freehand Files - Collect For Output

It is always best, when possible, to convert all text to paths in Freehand. If type is converted to paths, it becomes like art and is no longer editable. There is no need to submit fonts when you convert text to paths. To do this, select you text blocks, then go to 'TEXT' and select "Convert to Paths".

If you cannot convert all of your text to paths, then you must send ALL of your fonts. We need both printer versions and screen versions to publish the ad correctly. Freehand will do this for you. Go to "File" and select " Collect For Output". Make sure your setups are like the screen shots below.

Making an EPS File from Freehand

Under 'File' choose 'Export". Select "Macintosh EPS' .

Select 'Setup'. Make your settings as the screen shot below. Make sure to select 'Include Fonts in eps' and 'Convert to CMYK'.

Freehand 10 Files - How to export as .pdf (Preferred Format)
